Term 4, 2018

Dear students/parents/caregivers,

Dear Parents and Students

Amazingly, we are already into the final few lessons for the year, after what will be an extended break due consecutive school holidays and Labour Weekend public holidays.

It is hard to believe that this time a year ago we were preparing for our 50th Anniversary celebrations! Now we look forward to our end of year concerts on Saturday 24th November, being held again at CCChurch, Pascal St.

2019 enrolments
Parents are reminded that enrolments for Saturday Music classes for 2019 are open. Enrolments and subscriptions ($130) received before November 30th will be discounted by $10. Early enrolments allow us to begin arranging tutors according to the demand for each instrument.

Enrolments are made online at

Enrolments are welcome for the instrument classes, music basics classes, ukulele crew, Manawatu Voices Choir and Manawatu Training Orchestra.

Saturday Music Raffle
We are extremely grateful to Rockshop, New World, Countdown and PaknSave who have all generously donated goods for our End of Year raffle prizes again this year. Tickets will be on sale on the 24th November for $2. Saturday Music continues to operate successfully as a result of the amazing support from our parents every year!

Instrument care
From time to time, an instrument requires maintenance or repair. PARENTS ARE REMINDED NOT TO ATTEMPT REPAIRS THEMSELVES. Such attempts are against hire agreements and can make repairs even more difficult. Please forward the instrument to Nigel or Keiko who will be able to arrange the repairs or maintenance needed.

Instrument hireage
Keiko will soon be in contact with hirers of the Manawatu Music for Youth Charitable Trust musical instruments. The price for hireage of the instrument over the summer break will be $30.00. If you would like to return your child’s instrument, you may do so after your child’s concert performance, on Saturday 24th November. Please note: Woodwind and Brass instruments will not be available for hire over the holidays as they are due for scheduled maintenance.

For sale
A parent has a ¾ size cello in excellent condition for sale. Asking price is $800 ono. Please contact Nigel to view the instrument.

Saturday Music is a not-for-profit organisation. We always appreciate the donations made by parents and family who attend the end of year concert. These monies go directly into resources used for teachers in classes. Coins and notes accepted!

Tutors and Volunteers
Have you ever considered becoming a Saturday Music tutor or a volunteer helper at Saturday Music? We will be advertising for a range of roles at Saturday Music for 2019. These will be on our website, as well as Trademe. Feel free to email me if you have any questions about these roles. We look forward to setting up our team for another successful year!

All the best for another rewarding term ahead!

Kind regards
